We have developed a “seamless and transparent” service to help you understand detailed process when traveling to Cuba for medical care.
We have assembled some helpful information that will give you a brief overview of our medical information process. Our company focus is in the field of “Medical Tourism” we work with our long established division Travelcade Holidays. The many years of experience since 1977, we have developed a network of travel associates worldwide. We have also inspected the Medical Facilities in Cuba and have a knowledge of the medical and travel logistics necessary to accomplish all the tasks before your departure from home.
The medical information process will flow smoothly as we receive your medical history in an orderly fashion. We have been requested to follow certain guidelines from our Cuban partnered hospitals/clinics.. We encourage you to supply this information to insure a safe and pleasurable medical process. Medical Questionnaire
If applicable please fill in the Online Medical Questionnaire as required when you have been assigned a confidential login number with your Case and File number. This process will enable Cubamedicare.com to forward your request to our Hospitals/Clinics. After this process is acknowledged you will receive correspondence directly from our Cubamedicare coordinator. Once your case has been confirmed, you will receive unlimited support and your health questions will be answered by a qualified medical professional.
Medical Procedure Review
A clear understanding of your medical needs and requirements will help all involved on determining the available treatment options for your specific needs... It is very important that you identify exactly what you are seeking at this time. Changes to your desired treatment plan may potentially complicate matters. We must do our utmost to identify your exact needs and move forward accordingly. We have selected only a few medical procedures and Hospitals/Clinics in Cuba that offer international acclaim. It is important to work with a company as Cubamedicare.com that can coordinate this process.
Authorization Release Form
Cubamedicare.com will send you an electronic word document for you to sign (by typing your name, date along with your case/file number). This will give our company your consent to receive and forward your personal information as required. When you have opened and completed this document info return it to us via email. Cubamedicare.com will send a copy to the appropriate clinic/hospital for their records. designated hospital for their records.
Transcripts, MRI, x-rays, photos, etc.
For many medical procedures, the doctors will need to see your transcripts, MRI’s, x-rays, photos, etc. In order to better facilitate this process, you will need to send digital copies of these documents. If you do not have this information in digital format. Documents can be forwarded to Cuba using DHL courier services which is the preferred delivery of choice. DHL charges will be at additional costs.
Medical Enquiry Submission
You will be required to complete a medical questionnaire to best inform your care givers of your medical history. This will advise your physician of any potential risks or conditions that may be necessary to know in conjunction with your procedures(s).
Choosing a Hotel
You will receive an email that provides information about your destination accommodation choices a hotel while in Cuba via our travel company. We ask for this information very early in the process so we can include the costs in your quotation. It is recommended that Hotel Accommodations be close to our Hospital/Clinic sites near the following Cuban cities: Havana, Varadero and Holguin. Once reviewed, please make a decision and email or call with your choice.. Please consider your options thoroughly. We do not want to make changes along in the process which could result in confusion and some additional administration charges that may be imposed by Hotel and Airlines.
Passport/Visa Acquisition
You must have the necessary travel documents such as a valid Passport and Visas. Canadians may stay in Cuba for 90 days. Government requirements are that travelers must purchase out of country trip cancellation and medical insurance.
Cost Quotation - Procedure(s) - Accommodations
During this process, you will receive a price quotation for the procedure(s) and accommodations. Also, you'll be provided with general information about the procedure(s), hospital, doctors, etc.
Quotation – Proposed Travel Dates
At this stage, we will discuss your procedure(s) and accommodations. Also, we’ll talk about the dates you wish to plan your medical retreat. Again, please think about this very carefully. Once we choose the dates, we will check with our hospital affiliate to see if these dates are available. If the pricing is acceptable to you, we can then move on to the next steps in planning your medical trip.
Correspondence To Your Surgeon
In this segment of the process, you will be allowed to pose questions or concerns you have for your chosen surgeon. We will coordinate the communication process via email in this stage. You may have an opportunity to speak directly with your doctor in Cuba further along in the process, should you so choose. You should be aware that telephone charges are expensive, but Email in English is possible.
The next three steps must:
Step 1) Schedule Procedure(s)
We will request your preferred doctor's consultation and surgery date(s). Once we receive notice that these dates are available, we can move to tentatively book your air travel and hotel accommodations.
Step 2) Reserve Air Travel
You will be directed to speak with our travel specialists to develop an air travel itinerary that best suits your needs. We ask that you contact them directly to communicate your specific needs. You will be directed via email as to the particulars. They will then send Cubamedicare a proposed itinerary. You will have a short period to review this information before having to book the tickets (typically within 7 days.)
STEP 3) Reserve Accommodations
We will tentatively book your hotel room. You will need to provide your credit card information at this time. (credit cards drawn on US banks are not accepted). Your card will not be charged in advance, but, only used as a method of reserving your room. Once you arrive at the hotel, you can either choose to use the same card, or another card to settle your bill upon check-out. Note: some of our partnered Healthcare Institutions have onsite recovery accommodations.
Book Your Air Travel Tickets
Cubamedicare will tentatively book any travel arrangements as required and instructed.
Deposit Trust Account
To help you feel more comfortable about the safety of your money; we have an agreement with our partners abroad to allow you to forward a deposit into our Trust Account instead of transferring your money overseas. Unlike other foreign medical tourism providers, who make you pay up to 100% of the cost up front, we will only ask for a small portion of the costs to secure your booking. This way, if for any reason you decide not to move forward with your procedure, you will only pay for the services you’ve used along with some administrative costs that may be imposed by our partnered service suppliers, here in abroad.
Note: payment plans may vary depending on the Health Care institutions payment policy and schedule.
Complete STEP 1 & 2
Once we receive your deposit, we will confirm your doctors appointment and hotel room reservations.
Itinerary to confirm procedure(s), flight, hospital, doctor and hotel
Cubamedicare
will confirm all your reservations and submit an itinerary for your review. Please check this document carefully to understand the time line of your trip. We will also send you information very specific to your travel destination so you can be prepared to make the most of your travel experience.
Destination Representative
When you select a destination for your medical treatment, you will be offered the services of a Destination Coordinator, the person that will greet you upon your arrival at your chosen destination.
Travel information
Before traveling, we will provide you with a host of information about the destination you'll be traveling to. You'll also receive many emails about how to properly plan and execute your trip.
Arrival Destination Coordinator or Designated Driver
If you require the services of a full time Destination Coordinator, he/she will be your personal assistant throughout your stay. He/she is fluent in English and will be there for you every step of the way. This person can accompany you to all your doctor’s appointments and medical treatments if required.
If you have not elected to use the services of a Destination Coordinator you will be greeted at the airport by a professional driver from either the hospital, hotel, or private car and taken to your hospital or hotel..
Medical Pre-Surgery consultation
Within days of your arrival, you will visit your physician’s office for the pre-surgery consultation. Here, the doctor will review your medical transcripts and conduct additional tests to ensure that you are ready for your procedure.
Surgical procedure
Your procedure will be performed by the best available surgeon, at a world-class medical facility, utilizing the available state-of-the-art equipment.
Recuperation & Post treatment
When the doctor is satisfied with your condition, you will be released from the hospital and driven back to your hotel to begin the recuperation process. During this time your main focus will be on recuperation. If you have not hired a Destination Coordinator please feel free to request any assistance from your hospital or hotel staff.
Post treatment
After recuperating and the surgeon is satisfied with your progress, you will be given authorization to enjoy some of the interesting attractions your destination offers. You can make arrangements with either your Destination Coordinator, hotel concierge, or, through one of the local travel excursion companies in your chosen destination...
Travel-Medical Insurance
It is government policy requirement that all traveler s purchase an out of country policy during their stay in Cuba. Cubamedicare can supply you with the necessary paperwork to purchase this insurance prior your departure. This is not related to your medical stay or procedure, it is for any accident or mishap during normal daily activities while in Cuba. You will not be permitted to travel without this insurance guarantee.
